Mt Hutt - Methven

As the last major landmass to be discovered, New Zealand is the youngest country on earth. It has a rich and fascinating history, reflecting both our Maori and European heritage. Amazing Maori historic sites and taonga (treasures), some dating back almost a thousand years, are a contrast to many beautiful colonial buildings. A walk around any New Zealand city today shows what a culturally diverse and fascinating country we have become.

New Zealand's spectacularly beautiful landscape includes vast mountain chains, steaming volcanoes, sweeping coastlines, deeply indented fiords and lush rainforests

Comparable in size and/or shape to Great Britain, Colorado or Japan, New Zealand has a population of only 4 million - making it one of the world's least crowded countries. It is a haven for those seeking peace, rejuvenation and relaxation as well as a playground for thrill seekers and adventurers. A temperate climate with relatively small seasonal variation makes it an ideal year-round holiday destination.

Established in 1869 and named after Robert Patton’s home town in Perthshire, Scotland, Methven Mt Hutt Village is a rural service town situated one hour from Christchurch in the central south island of New Zealand, just off the Inland Scenic Route 72 at the foot of Mt Hutt.                                                                 Make a Booking

With over twenty eating establishments, visitors to Methven Mt Hutt Village can enjoy a wide variety of meals, from the classic kiwi takeaway or New Zealand country pub meal to delicious first-class fare.  Fresh vegetables, meat and poultry grown in our region are sure to satisfy even the most discerning diner.
